HOW TO GET TO SLOVAKIA

It’s very easy to get to Slovakia. You have several options when choosing the location  of your arrival, pick one of the numerous airports and bus/train stations in Slovakia and its surrounding countries.

 

1. By plane

  • AIRPORT BRATISLAVA (Slovakia) – This international airport is approximately half an hour from the historical centre of the Slovak capital. Equipped with many direct flights from Europe this airport is the best choice to plan your trip to Slovakia.
  • AIRPORT KOŠICE (Slovakia) – Košice is the second largest city in Slovakia. It is located in the eastern part of the country. The city of Košice is linked to the airport by a bus service.
  • AIRPORT POPRAD (Slovakia) – right under the mountains of High Tatras is the Poprad airport. The best choice to visit some of the stunning Slovak national parks, but quite far away from the capital, about 4 hours of driving.
  • AIRPORT VIENNA (Austria) – Airport in Vienna is located only 35 km from the capital of Slovakia – Bratislava. Take one of the buses such as Eurolines or Blaguss to get to Bratislava, they operate on regular daily basis. For more information about the bus timetables visit Bus connections.

  • AIRPORT KRAKOW (Poland) – Krakow is known as a destination for low-cost airlines. The short distance to the Northern Slovakia is a great advantage for tourists visiting the Slovak mountains of High Tatras. List of airlines can be found here www.krakowairport.pl
  • AIRPORT BRNO (Czech Republic) -Brilliant distance to Bratislava, it takes less than 90 minutes to reach the Slovak capital from the airport in Brno. Even though this airport does not belong to the most known airline destinations, you can still find some cheap flights.

2. By train

International trains to Bratislava run from several European Cities. Regular trains run from Vienna (1 hour), Budapest (3 hours), and Prague (4-5 hours) several times a day, and from Krakow (6 to 7 hours) two or three times a day.

3. By bus

One of the easiest way to get to Slovakia from other European countries is by taking a bus. There are numerous coach companies providing international connections to Bratislava and other Slovak cities.

Main bus station in Bratislava is called Autobusová Stanica (AS) and is located in Mlynské Nivy.
