Trenčianske Teplice belongs to the oldest and most visited spa resorts in Slovakia. It is mainly thanks to the romantic location in the midst of mountains and the unique atmosphere of the city. Turkish bath Hammam
The most popular place in Trenčianske Teplice is the Turkish bath Hammam, which originally used to serve the rich nobles and financial tycoons. The history of this interesting building began at time when the former owner of the spa – Iphigenia de Castries d’Harcourt, saw in fascination the luxurious Turkish bath at the exhibition in Paris. She immediately decided to visit a viceroy Izmail in Egypt and ask him for permission to build a Hammam in Trenčianske Teplice.
Izmail did not only accept her request but he also sent his architect to help them build such a remarkable building with Turkish bath in the Maorish style. They started to build this oriental building in 1886. The construction was completed two years later. The Turkish bath Hammam is located next to the bathhouse, where the hot thermal springs naturally surface and flow at 42 degrees Celsius.
